Fencing in Rex Park
As you might be aware, one of the perks of living where I am is the view out across Rex Park, pictured above in the spring (though not from my flat).
So I was curious then angry when the council suddenly erected a bog standard mesh fence around it for no apparent reason, compounded by apparently barricading in some of the other residents with an even cheaper material. The fence keeps nothing in or out - it can't anyway as it's a public asset - and was constructed with obvious errors like blocking off a path. Security-wise it's probably made two virtual 'dark alleys' that were not there before, one of which will obviously be an unofficial toilet stop.
I've made two slideshows below. The first was made back in February (actually just to test out the slideshow>movie feature in Picasa) showing the park as it was before the fence went up, though my shots just happen to focus on the views that are most changed.
The second is made from photos taken between mid June and the start of August as I tried to chronicle the mess being made. I've alerted this one via Facebook to my MP, Willie Rennie, though I don't know what can be done.
and this is what they did ...
Ironic I'm posting this on the day that marks the 20th anniversary of another pointless wall coming down.
Totty for the Single Man - Nicholas Hoult

Teenage actor Nicholas Hoult is getting further exposure for his stunning looks - here in a shoot for OUT magazine styled by fashionista Tom Ford, who also directed him in the film of the Christopher Isherwood novel, "A Single Man". Nick's character Kenny is a student admirer of the lead character played by Colin Firth.
Here's the wordless trailer, where Nick pops up briefly a few times:
And here are the cast and Tom Ford attending the film's award-winning debut at the Venice Film Festival last September. Looks like Mr Ford may have had a hand in kitting everyone out so stylishly.

Sarah Jane Adventures Totty - Gregg Sulkin & Toby Parkes

Caught up with the second story of the new "Sarah Jane Adventures" series entitled "The Mad Woman in the Attic". A big improvement on the opening story last week, where Lis Sladen put in her worst/campiest 'possessed' performance (and she's had a lot of practice!) and the Judoon were the highlight.
This week had a real heart inside a tale of a grown up Rani who has become the titular 'mad woman' in 2059 owing to an earlier mistake which inadvertently erased the rest of the gang from existence. This one also cleverly previewed the Doctor's involvement in next week's story and finally retrieved K9 from cameo-hell (who oddly knows 'Master Clyde' even though I don't think they've met).
Anyways, a couple of things stood out for me, namely two guesting young actors Gregg Sulkin (above) and Toby Parkes (below) as Adam and Sam. They eventually turn out to be father and son. Adam looks far better than he should considering dad Sam shagged this week's 'villain' Eve (who was bright red) and must have been born when Sam was in his 50s.
Of course we had the regular male totty in the form of Luke And Clyde (Tommy Knight & Daniel Anthony) who are now both legal enough for me to say that. Here's a couple of Tommy from this episode. I had particularly unclean thoughts in the scene where Luke and Sam sit on Luke's bed together ...
They even managed to have yummy extras - I was particularly taken with this fairground zombie:
And the story was written by Joe Lidster, who is not only cute stuff, but is actually following me on Twitter (for which I am honoured sir!).

"The Sarah Jane Adventures" is back!

And it's heralded by this wonderful new extended trailer, which is making me squee a bit. Note added Doctor and K-9.
The series begins this Thursday on BBC One at 4.35, and is the "Radio Times' Pick of the Day for 15 October. Unlike previous series, there will be a second episode 24 hours later for the six week run so that's a full story per week split over Thursday and Friday afternoons. For some of us the early start time is a problem, but there's always iPlayer or the CBBC channel repeats. There's three opportunities the following weekend, all one-hour omnibuses. I'm going for the Saturday lunchtime-ish showing at 11.55am.
Meanwhile the series 2 DVD is coming out and those nice chaps at "Doctor Who Magazine" have stretched their remit and produced one of their specials on the subject of the three series of this spin-off (though no doubt touching on Sarah's TARDIS years).
Here's what to look out for:

Plus the regular edition of the magazine, handily appearing in newsagents on the 15th also, highlights the third story of the season where the Doctor crashes Sarah's wedding to someone bearing a remarkable resemblance to Nigel Havers ...
